Launch of the festival : Café-croissant & exhibit

Enjoy our monthly Café-Croissant* while discovering the “French Comics Framed” exhibition! Chris Reyns -comics specialist- will officially launch the exhibition* around 11:30 with many details and fun facts. The exhibit was created by the French Comics Association with the support of CNL, BIEF & SNE.

*Café-croissant : 4$ for AFE members, 6$ for others – Exhibition : Free



Saturday, May 13 – 4pm
Family-friendly movie: The Smurfs (free)

A famous Belgian comic on screen! When the evil wizard Gargamel chases the tiny blue Smurfs out of their village, they tumble from their magical world into New York City.

Wednesday, May 17 mai – 7pm
Round table with Sandrine Revel et Marcelino Truong (in French – free)

Come and join us to meet two great authors: Sandrine Revel and Marcelino Truong. After the conference, you will have the chance to discuss with Sandrine Revel, author of severals best sellers, including “Glenn Gould”. You will also have the chance to meet Marcelino Truong, author who won several awards. Come and discuss with him about his books “Such a lovely little war” and “Give peace a chance”.

Our monthly game-night will be themed with the comic book world! Rediscover the pleasure of playing games every third Saturday of the month, at 8pm at the Alliance française. There is nothing like a fun night of games with nice people… and in French!

Conference ”The influence of super-heroes in the French/Belgian comic books” by Chris Reyns (in French – free)

Did you know there were some French and Belgian super-heroes? Who are they? How are they different from the American ones?  We are pleased to welcome Chris Reyns-Chikuma, specialist of BD & comics, to answer all these questions and more!

Movie-night: Adèle Blanc-Sec (free)

This movie is the adaptation of a very famous comic book series, written by Jacques Tardi. Come and discover this movie, produced by Luc Besson. ‘An adventure set in the early part of the 20th century and focused on a popular novelist and her dealings with would-be suitors, the cops, monsters, and other distractions.’
