French Comic Book Festival

ALL THE EVENTS ARE FREE!

Even if since the beginning of comics they tackle subjects like war (Les Pieds Nickelés s’en vont en guerre of Louis Forton, 1917), the first appearance is often given to the book of Maus of Art Spiegelman at Pantheon books as the key Date (1986) of this emancipation of the ninth art, a “comics” often presented as novel (!) graphic. By focusing on French, Belgian, Swiss, African and Canadian comics, and limiting our scope of investigation to the wars in which French were involved, voluntarily or not, we will present few of examples of this encounter between comics and war that many do not know.

On the syllabus :
– Exhibit
– Conference and discussions
– Documentary « Là où poussent les coquelicots »
