{"id":25016,"date":"2026-02-06T12:53:37","date_gmt":"2026-02-06T17:53:37","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/af.ca\/ottawa\/?page_id=25016"},"modified":"2026-03-04T12:11:55","modified_gmt":"2026-03-04T17:11:55","slug":"bursary-program","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/af.ca\/ottawa\/en\/bursary-program\/","title":{"rendered":"Bursary Program"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Launched in November 2025, the <strong>Alliance Fran\u00e7aise Ottawa Bursary Program<\/strong> aims to reduce financial barriers faced by many individuals who wish to learn or improve their French.<\/p>\n<p>This program seeks to make French language learning <strong>more accessible, inclusive, and equitable<\/strong>, by offering a free group class to motivated learners looking to <strong>integrate, study, or work in French<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Thanks to the support of committed partners and funds raised during our Gala, Alliance Fran\u00e7aise Ottawa intends to make this bursary program a <strong>long-term initiative<\/strong> serving the community.<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong>About the bursaries<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>AFO bursaries may cover <strong>part or all of tuition fees<\/strong>, depending on the applicant\u2019s profile and available funding.<\/p>\n<p>Bursaries apply to:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>French group courses at Alliance Fran\u00e7aise Ottawa<\/strong> (subject to availability)<\/li>\n<li><strong>One specific session<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Textbooks and learning materials are generally <strong>not included<\/strong>, unless otherwise specified.<\/p>\n<p>The number of bursaries awarded each year is limited and depends on available funding and decisions made by the selection committee.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong>Eligibility criteria<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>The bursary program is <strong>open to all learners<\/strong>, regardless of age, provided they meet the following criteria:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Never have been previously enrolled at the Alliance Fran\u00e7aise Ottawa<\/li>\n<li>Demonstrate strong motivation and commitment to learning French<\/li>\n<li>Show financial need (supporting documents may be required)<\/li>\n<li>Complete a level assessment to ensure appropriate course placement<\/li>\n<li>Be available to attend a class matching their level and schedule<\/li>\n<li>Living in Canada&#8217;s National Capital Region<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>\u274c This program is not intended for individuals preparing exclusively for TEF or TCF exams.<\/p>\n<p>Selected applicants are expected to:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Complete the full course session<\/li>\n<li>Uphold Alliance Fran\u00e7aise Ottawa values: respect, integrity, diversity, and commitment<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Incomplete applications or those lacking clear motivation will not be considered.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong>How to apply<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>Step 1 \u2013 Check availability<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Before applying, please contact our team to confirm bursary availability.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Contact:<\/strong> info@af.ca<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Step 2 \u2013 Submit your application<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Please complete the <strong>bursary application form<\/strong> below with detailed and accurate information.<\/p>\n<p>\ud83d\udccc Submitting an application <strong>does not guarantee<\/strong> that a bursary will be awarded.
