Who are we?

Alliance Française Ottawa is part of a wide international network created in 1883 whose missions are to promote French language and Francophone cultures around the world.

Found in 134 countries, the Alliances Françaises are non-profit organisations founded locally. As such, the Alliance Française Ottawa is a Canadian association founded in 1905.

There are 9 other Alliances Françaises around Canada: Halifax, Moncton, Toronto, Manitoba, Edmonton, Calgary, Vancouver, Victoria, Montréal. Their coordination is provided by the delegation of the Foundation Alliance Française in Canada, located in Ottawa.

Our missions

The Alliance Française Ottawa offers the following services:

  • Language center: Classes for individuals, companies, diplomats, government employees. Group classes, individual training at our location or on site, online tutoring, grammar and conversation workshops
  • Exam center :TEF and TCF (all options), DELF/DALF, etc.
  • Cultural activities: The Alliance Française Ottawa organises about 40 events a year (cineclub, concerts, plays, conferences, exhibitions, etc.)
  • A multimedia library: The Alliance Française Ottawa offers the public a resource center in French and about France. DVDs, CDs, books, magazines, learning material
  • Culturethèque: The Alliance Française Ottawa offers a one-year access to its own online library Culturethèque. Press, books, comics, magazines, learning material, video games, for all levels and ages
