French group classThe online French classes of Alliance Française Ottawa focus on oral proficiency with an interactive general program using the Odyssée + textbooks.

Our teaching method based on oral interaction and communication helps you improving your speaking in French.

Our teachers use the teaching techniques that we have perfected over 115 years. These techniques have helped millions of students learn French as a second language.

Our French classes take place in small groups, meaning you’ll always get to practise your conversation skills with your instructor and your classmates.

To accommodate diverse schedules, we offer part-time online group courses.

For an efficient but progressive learning experience you can  register for our part-time French course. We strongly recommend the part-time programs if you wish to proceed with timely and consistent progress. The part-time courses are delivered over a 7 or 8 week period covering 28 hours per session.

I would like to inform you that I really enjoyed A1 course with Jean and would like to register A2. Jean is very patient and engaging teacher and he has a great talent to make students feel comfortable and confident.

Haemi Pollett – Online French groupe classes – Teacher : Jean Carteron – 2021

I think it offers a good balance of oral and written compression. The Focus Langue is really useful. The small class size and lots of opportunity for verbal communication with the other students is both useful and enjoyable.

Online French group classes – Teacher : Amelle Azzimani – 2021

I tried a course with a very well-known college in Ottawa and it was nowhere near as good as AF.

Online French group classes – Teacher : Sara Dorafi – 2021

I did very well with Shabnam and would like to continue with her if at all possible.

Online French group classes – Teacher: Shabnam Khani – 2021

I have tried a number of language schools and find only AF actually teaches in a manner that wants their students to learn. A number of other institutions within the NCR are just happy to have students pay and not receive adequate training. I am always recommending AF to anyone who mentions they need language training.

Online French group classes – Teacher : Sara Dorafi – 2021

Great classes and well-qualified teachers! Definitely recommending.

Dilyara Yusupova – French groupe classes – 2019

The instructors are engaged and experienced, and the classroom atmosphere is warm and friendly. I highly recommend taking classes here!

Lynda Thrasher – French groupe classes – 2019

Very friendly staff & great French & Canadian teachers. Group & individual settings. Very good value for money & they want you to not only learn but excel in French. I recommend anyone who wants to learn or improve their French to take group or individual classes at the Alliance Française of Ottawa, Canada.

Mohamad Abdulrahim – French groupe classes – 2019

Very good material and infrastructure. Teachers are well qualified and the group classes have a good size (around 10-12 ppl). The material and most of the teachers teach french from France, but they always give us notes when there are differences in Quebec french.

Monique Moledo – French groupe classes – 2019

Very qualified teachers. Great place to not just learn language but be exposed to French culture. Of note are the various resources and activities you can access to, such as the library, and movies nights etc.

Xena – French groupe classes – 2019

In Alliance Française, I really started to understand French from zero. Thanks to prof’s patience. I found it interesting and productive to go to classes. I recommend everyone who has interests in learning conversational French or more to choose Alliance Française Ottawa.

Yulun W. – French groupe classes – 2018

Had a series of fantastic classes here. The staff was professional and enthusiastic about teaching. I have taken classes at other French schools around Ottawa and they were nowhere as good. Specifically my teacher Sara kept the class engaged and interested, even in a class that took place after work.

Robert Parungao – French groupe classes – 2018

I have only good things to say about Alliance Française! This is my first time learning a new language since high school, and I was afraid I would not be able to understand how to learn as an adult after having taken so much time off. But this was not the case! The resources available and the professionalism of the staff made it very easy to learn. I will highly recommend Alliance Française to all of my friends and anyone wanting to the French language.

Matthew T. – French groupe classes – 2018

I really enjoyed this class. I came in training next to nothing when it comes to French and the teacher did a really good job teaching the basics to such a beginner classroom. I feel like I have a better grasp of the language moving forward and that I am able to learn this language. Already my pronunciation has improved and I am comfortable speaking what I have learned so far in class. I liked being in a small class because the students were able to help each other and the teacher was able to focus on everyone individually as well as in a group. The teacher was very patient which was great for all of us who started this experience not knowing a lot of French. Overall this course was an enjoyable and positive experience and I feel like I learned a lot throughout.
