Prepare successfully for the Second Language Evaluation – Oral Language Evaluation (SLE-OLA) by developing your oral skills in French, whether you’re aiming for Level B or Level C.

 

 

 

 

 

These courses, taught by our experienced teachers, will enable you to prepare in depth by focusing on the five evaluation criteria:

  • Fluency and elaboration ;
  • Comprehension ;
  • Pronunciation ;
  • Range and mastery of grammar; and
  • Range and mastery of vocabulary.

In class, you’ll participate in dynamic activities:

  • Work on targeted authentic documents (articles and videos) selected by the teaching team to acquire vocabulary and work on your fluency in discussing familiar and unfamiliar topics;
  • Oral test simulations and work on answers to Level B and Level C questions;
  • Oral activities and group discussions on topics related to the working environment;
  • Review of targeted grammar notions.

If you have encountered difficulties in previous tests, our experienced teaching team will provide you with the advice and techniques you need to overcome these obstacles.

 

Admission requirements

  • Oral B: from level B1.1
  • Oral C: from level B1.5
  • The orientation test is compulsory for new students.

Alliance Française Ottawa follows the European framework for Languages, also called CEFR, adopted by the European Commission and all around the world. Your progression is therefore supervised, following official and recognised norms.

The CEFR describes foreign language proficiency in reading, listening, speaking and writing from beginner to the more advanced level: A1/A2, B1/B2, C1 and C2.

How to enroll?

“A1.1 level classes are designed for new students who have never studied French before and have no knowledge of the French language.”

  • New student at AF Ottawa? Take the orientation test in order to assess your level in listening, reading, grammar, and vocabulary.

To complete your orientation test:

You will have an orientation interview with one of our specialist French as a second language teachers via MS Teams, by choosing an appointment date on the calendar at the end of the test to complete the assessment of your level.
